- Mental arithmetic refreshers and practical tips
- Mathematical notation, estimating, and number sense
- Order of operations (BODMAS/BIDMAS), fractions, percentages, and conversions
- Time, date, and inflation calculations
- Technology tools, including calculators, spreadsheets, and AI
Session B - Applied Legal Numeracy in Practice
- Interest calculations (simple, compound, APR, late payments)
- VAT calculations and common pitfalls
- Indexation adjustments and clause checks
- Property calculations: SDLT, completion statements, rent apportionments
- Corporate and commercial calculations: share capital, profit margins, and break-even analysis
- Time value of money: NPV, IRR, discounted cashflow
- Practical spreadsheet skills to avoid errors and save time
Each session includes hands on exercises to reinforce learning and ensure practical application in real legal scenarios.
